Fujitsu eyes Celonis’ process mining a key tool for data-driven management

Business processes are difficult to control, even for global companies. Munich-based software company Celonis wants to change that. They’ve designed a method called "process mining" to help companies identify pain points and optimize their internal processes.
Fujitsu CIO Yuzuru Fukuda spoke about how the use of this method has boosted the company's internal transformation project aimed at bringing about data-driven management.

Fujitsu Chief Information Officer Yuzuru Fukuda says process mining is like finding a route to a destination on the tangled Tokyo subway.
"A decade ago, finding a way to your destination on the subway was time-consuming. But today, you can easily find the best route with a smartphone. The same is true for navigating business processes," says Fukuda.
Fujitsu has partnered with Celonis to combine Fujitsu’s data science technology with the global software company's process mining technology to help customers reform their business processes.
Fukuda shared the stage with Celonis co-founder Bastian Nominacher at a conference in Munich in November 2023. The Fujitsu executive explained how Celonis' latest solution, the Celonis Process Intelligence Graph (*1), is helping to optimize his company's data processes.

Digital Twin evolves with AI
The Celonis Process Map speeds up value creation by accelerating the extraction of transactional data and the identification of the appropriate use cases that capture value.
"The system allows you to analyze your company's performance on a map as if it were a digital twin of your organization," says Fukuda. "You can check service maintenance, financial status, and other processes in your company by at any time on this dashboard."
Fukuda also suggested that generative AI could even improve data visualization capabilities.
"Generative AI will significantly speed up cycle analysis to find optimal routes. Considering options, making decisions, and executing them."
The chief information officer also said that improvements through AI could help solve societal challenges, namely achieving sustainability goals related to people, prosperity and the environment.
